St.Petersburg State Research Institute of Phthisiopulmonology is the largest scientific center of the Russian Federation. This is a Federal multidisciplinary scientific and clinical institution that carries out research and educational activities in the field of phthisiology, related medical and biomedical specialties; providing practical, specialized and high-tech medical care to the population on the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis and non-specific diseases of various organs and systems in adults and children. The institute has three large clinics: tuberculosis therapy and thoracic surgery; surgery of diseases of the musculoskeletal system, urology, gynecology; surgery of osteoarticular tuberculosis in children and adolescents.
At the Center for Thoracic Surgery, robotic interventions are widely performed using the Da Vinci robot for lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, and bullous emphysema. The clinic has the first world experience in the application of the Da Vinci robot for destructive pulmonary tuberculosis.
